Already answered this…same answer…
1. He will get medically evaluated for the condition. They will try to resolve the situation through treatment and/or drugs.
2. If that doesn’t work they will medically board him to determine if the condition warrants a return to duty (with limitations) or a discharge
3. They will medically board him again to determine what type of discharge he will get and any disability rating he may be entitled to
This entire process normally takes 6-18 months depending on the situation and how backlogged the medical eval process is.
You can get discharged for anything if it presents a problem. I’m sure he will just see a doctor, get a diagnosis and if necessary take the proper medication.
The only reason he could be discharged for insomnia is it was determined medically that this or the basis of this problem is either a long term or cannot be corrected. then he would more than likely receive a medical, honorable discharge, along with a percentage rating to determine how much disability pay he would rate, post discharge. i wouldnt worry though, ive never heard of such an occurrance due to insomnia. everything will be fine.
He gets up at the crack of dawn, they work the beejeeze out of him…..he goes to bed exhausted. He will sleep. There is nothing like being worked hard to make one sleep.
